Why do I write books that change lives? Because Jesus changed my life! I was guilty of disobeying God–what is termed “sin”–and I felt the consequences of that guilt in depression and hopelessness. But God gave me back hope, purpose, and an abundant life when I trusted in Jesus, God’s Son, for the forgiveness of my sins and for the power to walk in a new way. Off with the old, on with the new! I want to see people loving and trusting Jesus now, in life on earth, so one day we can worship God together for eternity in heaven, where there will be no tears, no illness, no sin! That’s God’s marvelous plan for those who put their faith in Jesus. That’s good news!!
Jesus changed lives when He left heaven to live on earth as a man, too. He taught people about God’s kingdom and what is right and wrong, often through stories called parables. He also went about doing good by meeting the needs of the people He encountered. He gave up His right to be served, which God’s Son deserves, in order to serve others, even dying a gruesome, painful, shameful death to pay the penalty of our sin, though He never did anything wrong. And, in the end, Jesus overcame death when He rose from the grave. Now, we who believe in Him can also say, “Oh death, where is your victory? Oh death, where is your sting?” We no longer have to fear death, because it is just the beginning of something so much better–eternal life in heaven with the God who loves our souls.
So how should we respond to Jesus’ love and sacrifice? Love and obey God and love other people–that’s the gist of it! Share the good news about Jesus with people who don’t know Him yet. Encourage other believers as they follow Jesus. Help people who are hurting and in need. Forgive and pray for those who hurt you.
